Chris Flanagan, Consultant

Chris has over 20 years experience as a highly successful Headteacher in Lincolnshire schools.  He led his last school, Sutton-on-Sea Community Primary, to Beacon School status. Throughout his 30 year teaching career Chris championed the use of technology to support learning and teaching. He was regional winner and national finalist in the first National Teaching Awards in 1999 for the Most Creative Use of ICT.

 

Chris’ knowledge, skills and reputation as a creative and visionary educationalist have been drawn upon by many national, international and regional organisations. In 2005 Chris decided to leave headship and form PrimaryWise as a full-time consultancy offering the highest quality support and service to schools and other educational organisations.

 

 

 

 

As a Consultant and Adviser, Chris has been

  • External Adviser for the Performance Management of Headteachers
  • Member of the BECTa project development group for Internet Proficiency and Safety
  • Member of Lincolnshire development group for the General Teaching Council CPD Pilot
  • Member of the TTA working party for Development of QTS Skills Tests for ICT
  • Founder member of the steering committee for development of TeacherNet UK
  • Adviser for development of ICT to support teaching and learning through a DfES funded project involving 9 schools in a challenging area.
  • Engaged in the development of educational content for Tea Trail website

As a Trainer, Chris is

  • Accredited as an Espresso trainer, working with dozens of schools each year
  • Delivering the TDA Induction Programme for Teaching Assistants and School Support Staff in Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire
  • Working with NQTs in making effective use of supporting adults in the classroom
  • Writing and delivering modules for HLTA training in Planning, Preparation, Assessment & Monitoring
  • Accredited as a NCSL/BECTa SLICT programme trainer / facilitator, currently engaged by Cascade, Hull University
  • Co-leading a British Council programme of ICT conferences and seminars in Lagos, Nigeria

Internationally, Chris has  

  • Represented TTA in Melbourne, Australia at the 1999 Connected Learning Conference
  • Spent extended time in schools in Melbourne, Australia and San Diego, USA to evaluate their use of ICT in learning, teaching and school management

Chris is a member of the National Association for Advisors for Computers in Education (NAACE)
